Am I eligible to get my CDL?

You'll need to be at least 21 for interstate driving (18 for in-state runs in North Carolina), hold a valid driver's license, pass a DOT physical and drug screen, and have a driving record without disqualifying violations such as a recent DUI. No prior trucking experience is required — we work with first-time drivers regularly.

How long does it take to get licensed?

Most people go from permit to CDL in roughly 4 to 8 weeks. That's typically 1 to 2 weeks studying for and passing the written permit test, then about 3 to 6 weeks of behind-the-wheel training and ELDT before your road test. Part-time schedules take a little longer.

What should I bring to get started?

Bring a valid driver's license, your Social Security card, proof of residency (a utility bill or lease works), your DOT medical card if you already have one, and a 10-year address and employment history. If you have any prior driving records or endorsements, bring those too.

What does CDL training cost, and can you help?

Training costs vary by school. Talk to our recruiter — we'll point you toward reputable local programs, explain financing and tuition-reimbursement options, and line up a driving position with H&B Logistics Group Inc for when you're licensed.
